A Mouthwatering Birthday Card

Summer is here and in my mind, watermelon definitely says summer! This card definitely says summer birthday. Here are a few pictures as I assembled the card and two possible final layouts…I went with the angled version.

If you wanted to go with a really basic card, you could use simply the printed background paper that I created using the watermelon image, card stock, and the birthday sentiment. On here I used tone on tone ink for the watermelon…and it almost looks like a wedge of lemon or lime.

Or you could easily dress this up with a bit of ribbon or some well placed brads. It is all a matter of your style, the time you have, and what supplies are readily at hand.

With a stamp set like Mouthwatering where the images are solid, my prefere is typically to use whisper white card stock since you get to most saturated ink effect. Also, because I used markers to apply the ink, I made sure to breathe onto the i age before stamping — this helps be sure the ink is moist.

Wishing you a glorious summer day!
