So inspired!

I’ve been inspired to produce a whole week of cards based on this week’s Mojo Monday entry! Check back each day to see what I have created using only the same products I used tonight. While what I have prepared makes for a cohesive collection of cards (and a gift tag, too), each has it’s own unique look.

It also occurs to me that I may be onto something when it comes to my blogging…

If I can pull out my supplies just once each week and make 5 projects in one sitting (using all the same items), I can certainly provide you with a more consistent flow of project ideas no matter how busy my week may be. And this also highlights the versatility of Stampin’ Up! Products. I’ll be curious to see your response to this week!

Until next time,

Kerry

Mojo Monday…Perfect Words card

What a day! A Mojo Monday sketch that I love. Exciting news about May 7th. A chance to inspire you.

Hope you enjoy my Mojo Monday entry as much as I do –I am really pleased with how it turned out. This week I was inspired to turn toward some richer more sophisticated shades and to incorporate some of the Well Worn Designer Series Paper. Here is what I created…

And here are some more detailed photos…

To create the curved area beneath my sentiment, I used my Decorative Label Punch along with my Paper Cutter. I simply punched out the label and then used the paper cutter to cut it in half.

Because I used a dark base for my card, I adhered a color coordinated piece of card stock to the inside for writing my message to the card recipient. I of course used one of my favorite techniques, what I call “tipping” to distress the card. Literally all I do is pull the card stock across a Classic Stampin’ Pad to achieve this effect.

The stamp set is “Perfect Words” and it is a Hostess exclusive set that is only available until May 31. It is a wonderful collection of sentiments that uses diverse type styles.

Retiring!

No, not me. No, not my blog.

Stamps…lots of stamps. And accessories…lots of accessories.

Stampin’ Up! is preparing to release its new annual catalog and they are making room for new stamp sets and accessories.

Take a peek at what is retiring and be sure to place your order soon for those products that you need for your collection!

Retiring Stamp sets – stamps can be ordered until May 31.

Retiring Accessories – accessories are available while supplies last.

Retiring Definitely Decorative – while I have not blogged about the Definitely Decorative line, I can tell you that I love the wall art/decals that Stampin’ Up! carries. My kitchen and my daughter’s bedroom would simply not be the same without a few fun items from this collection.

While I am sad to see that some of my favorites are retiring, I am excited to see the new items that will fill the Idea Book & Catalog!

Until next time,

Kerry

More inspiration from the Mojo Monday sketch!

This week’s Mojo Monday sketch inspired me to try a couple more cards…

These cards are not complete (except of course for the card I first showed you earlier this week)…a sentiment is need and a little something to make the cards really pop. I had fun playing with the papers and some different arrangements of the printed squares. Lots of possibilities!

Circles Abound on this Mojo Card!

Here it is…this week’s Mojo Monday entry!

Personalized Alphabet Art

This morning I have had an opportunity to take some pictures of the personalized alphabet artwork that I finished last night for my daughters. Here are some pictures for you…

Brooklyn noticed these right away this morning and she loved them! Hoping that she and Britt will enjoy these for many years to come.

Until next time,

Drum roll please…personalized alphabet art!

Several weeks back, I saw a fabulous personalized nursery or alphabet frame on the “Freshly Pressed” section of WordPress and it was made by Kellie who writes the blog le zoe musings — I began to follow the blog so I could see other projects Kellie tackled. At the beginning of this month, Kellie asked to see what projects her post inspired. She plans to feature some of the favorites on her blog. After breaking out the Big Shot this week, I definitely knew I was up for the challenge of making a couple personalized alphabet frames. Here is what I created:

20120414-221458.jpg

These are for my daughters Brooklyn and Britt. Rather than making these entirely matching, I went with coordinating hues from Stampin’ Up!’s In Color collection…the colors are Wisteria Wonder for Brooklyn and Pool Party for Britt. I paired die cut letters in Naturals White, Wisteria Wonder, and Pool Party with Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Shop (Britt) and Berry Blossom (Brooklyn) collections. I am please with the end results!

Here are a few tips for making your own:

Gauge what size frame you will need based on the letters you are using — the opening on my frame is 8″x10″ and the inside of frame including the mat is 11″x14″.

Attach your mat to your background paper so you know the precise work area you have.

Layout the entire alphabet and adjust as needed before you adhere any letters to the background paper.

Put your mat into the frame (without the glass) if you will be adding a name on the mat — again, this lets you know your precise work space.

Layout the name and adjust before adhering.

When I was making Britt’s, I played with several placement possibilities for her name…centered on the bottom, off to one side on the bottom, vertical down left side, vertical down right side, and of course a few different placements at the top of the mat. I did not like the vertical options at all. The options across the bottom were okay but it was going to be a real change to have the dot for the “i” and I simply did not like the look without it. Across the top was my favorite and I preferred having her name off to the side.

The girls will start sharing a bedroom this summer and this personalized alphabet art will be perfect for helping to carve out a space for each girl within the room!

Until next time,

Kerry
